This policy explains what information Axso collects through axsomedia.com and the Axso Daily email, why we collect it, who handles it for us, and the choices you have. “Axso,” “we” and “us” mean Axso, the publisher of axsomedia.com and Axso Daily.
The short version: we collect your email address so we can send you Axso Daily. We never sell it or share it for anyone else’s marketing. You can unsubscribe in one click, any time.
What we collect
When you sign up. Our sign-up form asks for one thing: your email address. Along with it, the form sends the web address of the page you signed up from (for example, the homepage or an article), and we record the date and time you signed up. The form also has a hidden field that people never see or fill in. It’s there to catch spam bots, and it collects nothing about you.
We don’t ask for your name, phone number, mailing address or payment details.
If you answer our optional question. After you sign up, our welcome page asks one optional question: what kind of business do you run? You can pick “I own or run a local business,” “I’m building a startup,” “I work at a company” or “I just follow the economy,” or you can skip it. If you answer, we add your answer to your subscriber record.
When you visit the site. When your browser asks for a page, it shares technical details such as your IP address (the number that identifies your internet connection), your browser type, the page you asked for and the time. Cloudflare, the company that hosts our site, processes these details in request and security logs so it can deliver pages and protect the site from attacks and abuse.
When you open our emails. Depending on its settings, our email platform, GoHighLevel, may record whether an email was delivered, whether you opened it and which links you clicked. Email platforms usually do this with a tiny image in the email and with links that pass through their own servers first.
When you email us. If you write to us, we get your email address and whatever you put in your message.
Why we use it
- To send you Axso Daily, plus a welcome email with The Local Business AI Starter Kit.
- To attach your optional answer to your subscription and understand who reads Axso Daily, so we can make it more useful.
- To see which pages bring in new readers, using the page you signed up from.
- To see which stories and links readers find useful, using open and click data where our email platform records it.
- To keep the site and the sign-up form working and secure, and to block spam and abuse.
- To reply when you write to us, and to act on your requests, such as unsubscribing or deleting your information.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Who handles it for us
Two companies process your information to run Axso for us.
- GoHighLevel (run by HighLevel LLC) is our email platform. When you sign up, our site sends GoHighLevel your email address, the page you signed up from and the time you signed up, plus your answer to the optional question if you give one. GoHighLevel stores and labels your subscriber record and sends our emails, including the welcome email. Read HighLevel’s privacy policy.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) hosts our website and runs the small program that receives sign-ups and passes them to GoHighLevel. It processes IP addresses and request logs to deliver the site and keep it secure. Read Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
We don’t share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires it (for example, a valid court order).
The one cookie we set
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. We set one, and only right after you sign up. It’s called axso_signup.
- What it holds: the email address you just signed up with, the time you signed up, and a code that proves our site set the cookie, so no one can fake one.
- Why we use it: so that if you answer the optional “What kind of business do you run?” question, we can attach your answer to the right subscriber without asking for your email again.
- How long it lasts: one hour at most. We clear it as soon as you answer the question.
- Who can read it: only the part of our site that handles sign-ups. Your browser sends it only to axsomedia.com and only over a secure connection, and the pages you see can’t read it.
We don’t use cookies for advertising or to follow you around the web.
Cloudflare, our host, may set its own short-lived security cookie if it needs to check whether a visitor is a person or a bot. That cookie is used only to protect the site.
No analytics or ad trackers
Right now, our site has no analytics tools, ad pixels or other third-party trackers. Our fonts are stored on our own site, so loading a page doesn’t send your information to a font company. If we decide to add analytics or advertising tools, we will update this policy before we do.
We never sell or share your email
We don’t sell your email address or any other information about you. We don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing. The only companies that handle it are the service providers listed above, and they handle it to run Axso for us.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After that, we keep only what we need to honor your unsubscribe: your email address and a note that you opted out, so we don’t email you again by mistake.
Cloudflare keeps its request and security logs according to its own policies.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe any time. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you’re off the list.
- Skip the question. You never have to tell us what kind of business you run.
- See, correct or delete your information. Email hello@axsomedia.com and tell us what you’d like. To protect you, we may ask you to confirm the request from the email address you signed up with.
- Limit open tracking. Most email apps let you turn off images, which stops most open tracking.
Extra rights in some states. Residents of some states, such as California, have extra privacy rights under state law. These can include the right to know what personal information we have about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We honor these rights. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising, and we won’t treat you differently for using your rights. To make a request, email hello@axsomedia.com.
Children
Axso is for adults who run or follow businesses. It’s not meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete their information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If the change is a big one, such as adding analytics, we will also tell subscribers in Axso Daily.
